Detailed Description
A cabin filter and an engine air filter are not the same thing
Many people searching for a "car air filter" are actually looking for the engine air filter. Both are called air filters, but they sit in different places, protect different things and are tested to different standards:| Item | Cabin (A/C) filter | Engine air filter |
|---|---|---|
| Where it sits | In front of the A/C blower | In the filter box on the engine air intake |
| What it protects | The people in the car (air blown into the cabin) | The engine (air going into the cylinders) |
| Test standard | ISO/TS 11155-1 (particles), ISO 11155-2 (gas adsorption) | ISO 5011 |
| Does Baisheng make it? | Yes, to OEM part number | No |
Cabin Filter Location & Airflow Path
Fresh air enters via intake → cabin filter → blower → evaporator → vents into the cabin
The cabin filter usually sits behind the glovebox or under the dashboard — the only filtration gate before air reaches the blower. In recirculation mode, cabin air returns through the same filter.
How to order
The most accurate way is to give us the OEM part number; without it, the length, width, thickness and pleat count of the old filter also work. Models we have made measure about 184–255 × 193–260 mm, 17–45 mm thick, with 32–41 pleats, covering Japanese and German vehicles. - Media: standard particle type, or an odor-removing type with an activated carbon layer - Marking: the model and an airflow-direction arrow can be printed on the filter so it is not installed backwards - Packing: individually packed - Quantity: varies by model; please include the quantity when you ask for a quoteHow often should it be changed?
Follow the owner's manual. Inspection and replacement intervals differ between carmakers and models; in dusty conditions, pollen season or frequent stop-and-go traffic, carmakers also recommend changing it sooner. When you remove the old filter, check the airflow arrow printed on it and install the new one facing the same way.Frequently Asked Questions
Do you sell engine air filters? How are they different from cabin filters?
No, we only make cabin (A/C) filters. Both are called air filters, but an engine air filter sits on the engine air intake, protects the engine and is tested to ISO 5011; a cabin filter sits in front of the A/C blower, protects the people in the car and is tested to ISO/TS 11155. For engine air filters, please contact an auto parts supplier.
What information do you need for a quote?
Ideally the OEM part number, so we can match the size and pleat count directly. Without it, measure the old filter's length, width and thickness (mm), count the pleats, and tell us whether you want the standard type or one with an activated carbon layer, the quantity per model, and whether you want the model printed on the filter.
Can you make just a few pieces?
Cabin filters are produced per model, so very small quantities are hard to schedule on their own — we have had a request for just 5 pieces that could not be made because the quantity was too small. The quantity we can accept varies by model; please tell us your expected quantity when you inquire and we will confirm.
Can you do private label? What can be printed on the filter?
We can discuss it. The model and an airflow-direction arrow can be printed on the filter itself, so owners and technicians can match it and not install it backwards; filters are individually packed. Please send your private-label packaging and marking requirements with your inquiry, together with the models (OEM part numbers) and quantities, and we will evaluate them together.
