스틸-우드 실험대는 강철 프레임에 목재 캐비닛을 짝지은 것으로 실험실에서 가장 흔한 구성입니다. 프레임이 하중을 받고 캐비닛이 수납을 맡는 역할 분담이 비용과 성능의 균형을 잡아 줍니다. 하중은 강철에, 형태와 수납은 판재에 맡기므로 전체를 금속으로 만들 필요가 없습니다. 프레임은 우수한 각관을 가스 보호 용접과 연마로 성형한 뒤 7단계 산세·인산염 처리를 거칩니다. 캐비닛은 두께 18mm의 양면 멜라민 고밀도 MDF를 쓰고 모든 절단면은 PVC 엣지 마감으로 방수 처리합니다.

Moisture is the weak point of wooden cabinets

The usual failure on a steel-wood bench is not a corroded frame but a swollen cabinet. Units under sinks and around wash areas meet moisture continuously, and once the edge seal is breached the fibreboard absorbs water, swells and never recovers. So **every cut edge needs PVC sealing**, particularly edges trimmed on site. Factory-sealed edges are rarely the problem; the cuts made after delivery to clear pipework are where trouble starts. **Specify all-steel or PP cabinets at sink positions** and keep the steel-wood configuration for dry work areas. Making that call at the planning stage is far cheaper than replacing cabinets later.
