Projector Dust Filter

Product Overview

A projector dust filter sits at the projector's air intake and stops the dust that the cooling airflow would otherwise pull into the unit. Baisheng has long supplied filters to projector manufacturers for volume production, made to each customer's drawing; the usual media is a composite of a front nonwoven layer of about 6 mm plus electret media of about 10 mm, with a nonwoven or hot-melt frame. Sizes we have made run from about 6–21 mm thick and about 32–500 mm on the long side, with drawing tolerances down to ±1 mm.

Detailed Description

A projector dust filter sits at the projector's air intake. A projector cools itself by drawing in outside air with a fan, and this filter stops the dust that comes in with that air. When the filter clogs, less air gets in — which is why projector manuals usually remind users to clean or replace the filter regularly. Baisheng has long supplied dust filters to projector manufacturers for volume production. Every model is made to the customer's drawing — media, frame and dimensions all follow the drawing — and samples can be sent to the customer for validation before volume production.

Media: front nonwoven + electret media

The usual construction stacks two layers into one composite media: a front nonwoven layer of about 6 mm followed by electret media of about 10 mm. The front layer catches the larger dust and lint first; the electret media behind it then holds finer particles with the static charge on its fibers.

- Nonwoven combined with other media is also available, chosen to the drawing or to a media brand the customer specifies - A wrapped activated carbon version is also available - Efficiency, pressure drop and airflow are provided per selection

Frames and pleats

Two frame types are common: a nonwoven frame or a hot-melt frame. Some models pleat the media to fit more of it into the same frame; the ones we have made range from about 12 to 83 pleats.

Sizes we have made

Every projector's air intake is shaped differently, so the size always follows the drawing. The table shows the range we have made:

Made to drawing: from cutting die to volume production

With a drawing, we build to its dimensions and tolerances, down to ±1 mm. A new model needs a cutting die first; before volume production we can send samples for the customer to fit into the unit and validate, and production starts once they are approved. - Drawing: made to the customer's drawing and tolerances, down to ±1 mm - Media: the media brand can be specified - Cutting die: a new model needs a cutting die first - Samples: samples can be sent for validation before volume production - Lead time: depends on quantity
Can you tool up and produce to our OEM drawing and tolerances?

Yes — every model is made to the customer's drawing, with tolerances down to ±1 mm. A new model needs a cutting die first; when asking for a quote, please send the drawing (with tolerances), media requirements and expected quantity. The range we have made is about 6–21 mm thick, about 32–500 mm on the long side and about 12–83 pleats.

Can we specify the media brand?

Yes, the media brand can be specified. The usual combination is a front nonwoven layer of about 6 mm plus electret media of about 10 mm; nonwoven combined with other media is also possible, and there is a wrapped activated carbon version. Please note the specified media on the drawing or in your inquiry; efficiency, pressure drop and airflow are provided per selection.

Can you send samples for us to validate before volume production?

Yes. Before volume production we can send samples so you can fit them into the unit and check size and installation; production starts after validation passes. A new model needs a cutting die first.

Why is the composite media made in two layers?

Each layer has its own job: the front nonwoven layer of about 6 mm catches the larger dust and lint, and the electret media of about 10 mm behind it holds finer particles with the static charge on its fibers. With the large particles stopped up front, the rear layer does not clog as quickly. Actual efficiency and pressure drop are provided per selection.
