Paint Booth Ceiling Filter

Product Overview

A paint booth ceiling filter is a single-layer 20 mm filter media laid across the ceiling of a spray booth or paint-bake booth — customers also call it a "tacky filter" or "ceiling media". Air passes through it and then flows down over the workpiece, so dust is stopped before it can land on wet paint. The upstream face is more open and tacky. We supply Vilene PA-305 (Japan) and O.R.V. AR-600G (Italy), in rolls (up to 1 m wide) or cut pieces (for example 620×620×20 mm).

Detailed Description

A paint booth ceiling filter is filter media laid across the ceiling of a spray booth or paint-bake booth; customers also call it "ceiling media" or a "tacky filter". The air supplied to the booth passes through this media last, then flows down over the workpiece; it stops the dust in the air so that dust does not land on paint that is still wet. It is a single-layer media 20 mm thick, with a more open, tacky upstream face that holds the dust. We supply two models — Vilene PA-305 (Japan) and O.R.V. AR-600G (Italy) — either as rolls you cut yourself or as ready-cut pieces. It is commonly used in automotive paint booths and in coating/spray rooms at plastics plants.

Where does a ceiling filter go?

The ceiling filter sits in the booth ceiling and is the last filtration stage before air enters the room. Air is first pre-filtered in the air handling unit, delivered to the space above the ceiling, passes down through the ceiling filter, flows over the workpiece, and then the floor paint arrestor catches the overspray before the air is exhausted.

Schematic, not to scale; the actual layout depends on the booth design.

When installing, the more open upstream face points toward the incoming air — that is, upward. Customers often order ceiling filters on the same order as green-and-white fiberglass paint arrestors, dry paint-booth filter paper and bag filters.

How do PA-305 and AR-600G differ?

Both models are a single layer 20 mm thick, and both come in rolls and as ready-cut 620×620×20 mm pieces; the differences are the roll width and length and the sizes of ready-cut pieces. Neither comes in 25 mm or a thicker version. Material, efficiency, pressure drop, temperature rating and other performance data are per the manufacturer's specifications.

Roll, ready-cut pieces, or cut to size?

All three work — it depends on how your ceiling grid is laid out. If the grid has fixed openings that match a standard size, buy cut pieces; if the openings vary, buy a roll and cut it yourself, or give us the sizes and we cut them before shipping. - Ready-cut pieces: if the ceiling is a grid of fixed openings that fit a standard piece such as 620×620×20, simply swapping pieces is easiest - Rolls: PA-305 comes 0.5 m and 1 m wide, 23 m long; AR-600G is 1 m wide, 21 m long - Cut to size: sizes customers have ordered include 500×1000, 950×1310, 750×900, 1000×1500, 1000×2180, 1200×2000, 3150×1000 and 360×360 mm Rolls are at most 1 m wide; for widths over 1 m (for example 1.2 m), please ask first so we can confirm.
Do you have a 25 mm thick ceiling filter?

No. Both PA-305 and AR-600G are single-layer 20 mm, with no 25 mm or thicker version. If you have been using 25 mm, check that the ceiling hold-down can still clamp the thinner media before switching to 20 mm.

Can you cut it to the size of my paint booth ceiling? How wide can it go?

Yes. Give us width × length (mm) and the number of pieces, and we cut them before shipping; customers have ordered sizes such as 950×1310, 1000×2180, 3150×1000 and 360×360 mm. Rolls are at most 1 m wide; for widths over 1 m (for example 1.2 m), please ask first so we can confirm.

Should I buy rolls or cut pieces?

If the ceiling has fixed openings that fit a standard size, cut pieces are easiest: both models come in 620×620×20 mm, and PA-305 also in 500×500 and 800×850 mm. If the openings vary or you prefer to cut on site, buy rolls: PA-305 comes in 0.5 m × 23 m and 1 m × 23 m, AR-600G in 1 m × 21 m.

Which should I choose, PA-305 or AR-600G?

Both are single-layer 20 mm, and both come in rolls and 620×620×20 mm pieces. The difference is the roll format: PA-305 comes in two widths, 0.5 m and 1 m, 23 m long, and has more ready-cut sizes; AR-600G is 1 m wide and 21 m long. Material, efficiency, pressure drop and other performance data are per the manufacturer's specifications; when replacing, ordering the model you already use is the safest choice.
